So Fanime is over… will recap the rest of Fanime later… but for now I want to thank everyone who stopped by and visited me at my table :D And even a bigger “thank you” for anyone who bought something from me or my lady friend, Sukie!
Will anyone out there be going to AX this year? Sukie and I will be there for the weekend only but, alas- we did not get a table in time. If anyone could be a saint and let us use half of your table for only the weekend we would really appreciate it! We will owe you mucho and mucho!!!
Thank you!!!
Well… First day of Fanime did not go as planned.
Artist Alley was to be opened to the artist by 11:00am. Sukie got off of work at 12:00pm. Not bad not bad.
After running a few pit stops we are promptly dropped off at the convention center entrance by my charming beau. It appears to be as crowded as it is every year, just a regular Day 1 of Fanime… WE WERE WRONG!
It appears that on Thursday they had a power outage that then pushed back registration (including Pre-Reg pickups) back by over an entire day. The crowd that Sukie and I had seen at the entrance was not just a group of rabid fans… no, that crowd was the entire PRE-REG LINE!
I’m sure it must be hard to grasp as to what I have just said. Let me show you an image to better explain the situation at hand:

That, my friends, took roughly 2.5 hours to endure!
Whoever was in charge of the registration sincerely f-ed up. The registration-on-site line was so much shorter that I was greatly tempted to just pay again for the weekend.
By the time we made it up to the Artist Alley it was already almost 4:00 pm. We had about 4 hours left in that day and 2 of those hours we used up running about setting up our table and scarfing down deliciously cold McDonald’s that my awesome man-friend dropped off (having come back to the convention center after I had forgotten the table clamps and extra PVC piping).
I had been so very stupid and had slept only 2 hours the night before and had not eaten any breakfast… thus I had the shakes. Without my man-friend, Sukie and I would have surely been forced to consider cannibalism (or realize that there was a food vendor right outside the AA hall :D).
As the day in the AA hall was so short and tiring I really don’t think I have much to say about that experience specifically.
One very entertaining turn of events occurred after we closed down for the day and were heading to the parking structure.
At an intersection we stumbled upon a cat-fight between 2 random girls (who appeared to be in their mid teens… obviously going through their rough pubescent years). The blonde skateboarder girl (who I shall now refer to as Blondie) had apparently been insulted by the brunette short-shorts wearing girl (who I shall now refer to as Shorty).
It appeared to be that Shorty had in some way insulted Blondie then had hit her (?). Punches (poorly aimed) were thrown and insults hurled.
A few pedestrians stopped the altercation (mostly a Shizuo cosplayer [anime=Durarara]) and Shorty crossed the street dismissing Blondie’s angry cries for blood. It appeared to be the end. Wrong!
Blondie then picked up her skateboard and proceeded to follow after Shorty- ignoring honking cars and fellow pedestrian’s warnings. There was a short scuffle right in the intersection- immediately broken up as oncoming cars threatened their very lives.
The fight continued across the street. At this point, Sukie, man-friend, and I had limited view of this scene but I could clearly make out one amazing sight as Shorty punched Blondie in the face, grabbed her hair and hammered blow after blow, causing Blondie’s shirt to fly up at one moment (how this happened I am not sure). Blondie retaliated by using her skateboard to brain Shorty.
During all of this we were joined by other bystanders across the street. A few more sensitive pedestrians shouted out to a nearby firetruck, that happened to be coincidentally at the light: “Hey Fire-Dudes! There’s a fight over there! Isn’t this your job to stop them or something? Hey! Fire-Dudes!”
At first, the fire-fighters seem to ignore our cries then as the light turned green they turned on their siren and pulled up next to the cat-fight, to give them a warning.
All a while the good-guy Shizuo cosplayer had followed Blondie across the street in attempts to stop it.
At this point, us bystanders looked about. One asked, “Did any of us even push the cross light?” ….. “Nope”
The matching cosplayer “Izaya” (to the Shizuo) who had remained behind, as her friend had played the good Samaritan, turned to us and remarked “That was interesting” and ran across the street to join her friend and find out more about the entire event.
To say the least- that definitely made the torturous 2.5 hour wait in the beginning of the day worth it :D (also, Philz coffee helped a lot!)
Day 2, here we come!
It’s Fanime… in the morning. So sleepy- I am ready! I think! Who will be there? Come by and see me and Sukie! Ok? Ok! … Ok?
So tired… I don’t know what I’m saying anymore….
It’s funny… the longer I work on a piece the more I come to hate it and the more I dislike the end result… That being said… I am not too happy about this print but it came out better than it could’ve ended. Oh well- :D
Following the trend of my last post… this was a quick last minute print that I didn’t think too seriously about yet came out liking way more than thought.
I don’t even watch this series but I’ve seen so much about it online that I think I already get the basic gist of the show… and it is weird LOL

An oldie, but goodie… We made this silly little video for the Avatar panel at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con. It occurred to me that the only versions out there on YouTube were videotaped from the crowd, so I thought I’d post a clean version here (if one can refer to this as “clean”).
Now, I don’t want to cast aspersions or hurt any feelings, but for some of you I feel the need to explain that this is all a joke.
joke |jōk|
nouna thing that someone says to cause amusement or laughter, esp. a story with a funny punchline: she was in a mood to tell jokes.
• a trick played on someone for fun.Who’s going to San Diego Comic Con this year? It is coming up fast. We’re cooking up a really cool panel that, while not a unique format, is different from anything we’ve offered in the past. Looking forward to seeing you there!
BRYKE IS GOING TO COMIC-CON THIS YEAR!!! GUESS WHO IS GOING TO BE WAITING AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE FOR THAT PANEL???? MEEEEEEE!!!!!
Something about this video is captivating… I can’t stop staring at their smudged eye makeup and the crazy faces
